Summary of the 2011 Season

Perhaps the most exciting thing about the partnership with CollegeComplete.com is what it means to the sport of NASCAR, and to its fans. The traditional NASCAR audience has been, to a large extent, overlooked by higher education. With the launch of the CollegeComplete.com partnership, this is the year we see that trend change.

2011 was marked the first year for College Complete in NASCAR and with it WE learned a lot and hope that you did too. The year began with our primary driver as Chase Mattioli. Due to an illness and following Dr.’s orders, Chase was removed from the lineup for Daytona and Chad McCumbee drove in his place. Following Daytona, Chase retook the wheel as the College Complete Representative.

Juggling a college education and NASCAR would usually be something that most people would find daunting but Chase handled it in style. As the season became more intense, so did Chase’s off track requirements including internships.

College Complete temporarily asked a few different drivers to step in to help as Chase’s requirements demanded more and more time off the track. We had help from J.R. Fitzpatrick, Bryan Silas and Charlie Vest. Then a great opportunity came about and CollegeComplete.com moved its sponsorship from the 99 truck to Eddie Sharp racing and backed Justin Lofton as in his first race in the 46 since leaving his former team.

The 46 did not stay long as NASCAR approved the change to the 6 (the number Justin drove to the ARCA Series Championship in 2009 with ESR. As the relationship between the team, College Complete and Justin Lofton grew so did the experience and knowledge of the ESR truck team and Justin began his climb.

As the season came to a close we had 2 top 10 finishes, a lot of close calls, a great time and most of all a safe season. In the end, we were able to begin to share the message that it is never too late to improve on your education.
